What's Blooming
May 9, 2022
Spring wildflowers are starting to bloom in our woods. One of the first, showiest flowers is the delicate Rue Anemone (Thalictrum thalictroides). Tiny pink blooms rest on fragile looking stems only about 6 inches tall. These early flowers are enjoyed by pollinating insects that are active this time of year. Rue Anemone thrives in woodlands but it’s habitat is threatened by invasive species such as garlic mustard. To learn more about garlic mustard and help eliminate it, join staff at Koeneman Lake Nature Preserve tomorrow at 2pm.
