Welcome Izzy!
May 18, 2022
Izzy Franks is joining our staff as the Summer Stewardship Intern at the Conservancy for the summer of 2022. She will be a junior at Ferris State University this upcoming fall in Big Rapids, Michigan where she is studying Environmental Biology. Izzy will be assisting our Land Steward, Elizabeth Strick, in land stewardship work such as invasive plant control, trail maintenance, water quality testing, and much more. She will also be assisting with programs and events. She is very passionate about conservation and is very excited to be working with the Conservancy.
Izzy grew up on farm land in Marshall, Michigan. This is where she began her love for nature from a very young age. In the summer, Izzy lives in Quincy, Michigan on Marble Lake with her family and pets.
In her spare time, Izzy enjoys hiking, hammocking, boating, and journaling. When she is living in Big Rapids, she spends a majority of her free time in the Manistee National Forest and along the Muskegon River hiking and hammocking.
Izzy is very excited to learn how to identify more plant species and gain knowledge from hands on field work! We are excited to have her join our team!
Many thanks to Jack and Karen Horrell for funding our summer internship program!
