Jack in the Pulpit

Lupine

Rue Anemone

Virginia Strawberry

Ohio Spiderwort

Not only do these flowers provide great beauty along our hiking trails they also serve as important food sources for pollinators. During the spring there are often less plants in bloom which can make it difficult for pollinators to survive. As butterflies and bees become active in the spring it is important to have native flowering plants as food sources as they begin to look for places to lay eggs. Having more native flowers can help increase our pollinator population which will in turn help other species like birds as they raise their young on caterpillars among other things.
