The Result - Thank you!
We are extremely excited to announce that the match goal for Giving Tuesday was met and exceeded, raising over $20,000 in donations, for a total impact of over $40,000! We are so thankful for everyone who donated and took part in helping to share our Giving Tuesday story. The generosity of our supporters is what drives us to continue working towards our mission. GIVING TUESDAY - November 28th
Today is Giving Tuesday, a global movement highlighting the power of doing good. Our mission can only come to life when generous people like you join us to preserve, protect, and manage the natural environment within the Clear Lake watershed and township for future generations.
TODAY your donation can be DOUBLED when you join this global day of generosity as we work towards reaching our $20,000 match challenge pledged by Barb Wenger and 2 Anonymous Donors. This means that any donation received before reaching $20,000 today will be matched dollar for dollar and your impact will be DOUBLED!
The example of treating invasive watermilfoil the last two summers shows what we can do when we work together. Supporters like YOU, fund ALL of our projects and programs. The successful seasons of this treatment could not have happened without you, our donors. We are so grateful for your endless support and trust in our conservation efforts. Our mission statement is to preserve, protect, and manage the natural environment within the watershed and township for future generations. These ideals are shared by many who love the lake. We are thankful for our past, present, and future donors who helped us carry out this mission. Join us today to participate in our mission, help create more success stories like the invasive watermilfoil battle, and be involved in this beautiful community that cares for our lake for generations to come.
WEEK 4
In June of 2023, we mapped the success of prior treatment and located the remaining invasive watermilfoil. The presence of this invasive plant was just 1/5 of what it was the previous year. Wow! While we were excited to share these promising results with the community, we kept working together to continue the battle. Thankfully, we continued to receive donations to fund the second season of treatments. The second treatment happened on June 12th, 2023, resulting in only 5 acres remaining by August.
Knowing that ProcellaCOR is only recommended to use for two consecutive seasons at a time, we had one more treatment to close out the second season on September 27th. While we may continue to see small amounts of this invasive, we are encouraged to know that other treatment options are available next season to keep the invasive watermilfoil population as low as possible. In light of the recent successful rounds of treatment, the Clear Lake community and all Conservancy supporters should be incredibly proud of our ability to join together, raise funds, and successfully battle such a threat.
On Giving Tuesday, November 28th, we ask you to join this global movement by considering a donation to the Conservancy. And to make your contribution go further, remember that...
WE HAVE A MATCH!
Thanks to the generous support of Barb Wenger and two Anonymous Donors, an offer has been made to match up to $20,000 for all donations received on Giving Tuesday. This means that any donation received before reaching $20,000 on Tuesday, November 28th, will be matched dollar for dollar and your impact will be DOUBLED!
WEEK 3 - BIG NEWS BELOW!
By the Spring of 2022, the support of our caring and generous donors along with a $4,000 match funded the first treatment of the invasive watermilfoil in Clear and Round Lake. The battle began on June 1st, 2022, with the first 52 acres of the watermilfoil treated.
By the 24th, we shared an extensive Q&A to educate the community with more information from Scott Banfield from Aquatic Enhancement & Survey. By the end of that summer, we were glad to report that less than 1 acre of milfoil remained, but we knew more would likely emerge the next spring. We had to rely on YOU – our generous donors, to continue to show support for this project so that we could continue treatment the following year.

WEEK 2
When an invasive milfoil takeover was happening at Clear Lake, we realized that swift action must be taken to contain the spread so that our lake environment was not further disrupted. We created a detailed Aquatic Vegetation Management Plan (AVMP) and partnered with Scott Banfield at Aquatic Enhancement & Survey by the start of 2021.
With the generous support of a few dedicated donors, we were able to begin funding work to map the areas of invasion, complete surveys, hear community concerns and thoroughly research our treatment options. Once a treatment method was chosen, a permit was granted, and with an updated mapping of the invaded locations, our battle began.
WEEK 1
In the summer of 2020, Clear Lake was alive as ever with people swimming, boating, and relaxing at the island. At the same time, residents grew concerned when the aquatic plants (weeds) became more noticeable than usual. It seemed as if there was a new weed taking over. The Clear Lake Township Land Conservancy took residents’ concerns into action and launched an investigation.
In July, we flew over the lake by plane and drone to see how much of the lake was affected by this plant. By August, we had identified the plant as Eurasian Watermilfoil, an invasive and non-native species that had begun its takeover. Thankfully, with the support of our donors, we began what would become a 4-year journey battling against this invasive species.
